What to Expect When Mailing Your Wedding Invitations Through USPS

What to Expect When Mailing Your Wedding Invitations Through USPS

This blog post is meant to serve as a quick guide for USPS related policies surrounding wedding invitations and save the dates, or really any piece of mail for that matter. However, I am not an employee of USPS, so for all your official questions please refer to USPS.com or visit your local USPS location.

The US Postal Service has a mind of its own. Actually, it has several minds of its own because every branch and physical location of the USPS just so happens to operate a little differently. Really convenient, right? This means that what one USPS location might tell you, might differ at the location that’s just 2 miles down the street. This makes mailing your wedding invitations (and having ALL of them show up with no problems) feel like winning the lottery.

5 Ways Hiring a Custom Wedding Invitation Designer Helps You

5 Ways Hiring a Custom Wedding Invitation Designer Helps You

Brides! I know, I know. Weddings are already so expensive, but out of all the items that you’ve received quotes for and planned for, have you taken the time to think about the budget for your wedding invitations? Wedding invitations are much more complicated than most brides think they will be, which is why it’s so important to plan in advance. You might be able to find a gorgeous wedding invitation on Etsy, Minted, PaperSource, etc., but have you taken the time to think about how much custom artwork could help boost your wedding invitation experience?

Wedding invitations are just as important as the rest of your wedding day, especially because they are helping to set the scene and mood for your guests…

Styled Shoots: Problems You May Face & How to Fix Them

Styled Shoots: Problems You May Face & How to Fix Them

DISCLAIMER: The opinions that follow are my own and were not endorsed by any organization. Styled shoots work great for some certain people and vendors, but I'm not necessarily one of them. I wrote this post because I thought it was important for me to share my experience and overall opinion about styled shoots; I did not write this post to discourage anyone else from participating in them. This post is also not directed at any specific third party. I do share experiences but I do not name any names. Please take into consideration that this post is written from the point of a calligrapher/stationer so my experience may be different than that of other vendors in the industry. Multiple wedding vendors have expressed how much they agree with many of the points I am about to share below…

What Brides Need to Know About Letterpress Wedding Invitations

What Brides Need to Know About Letterpress Wedding Invitations

I have so many brides that are interested in having their wedding invitations letterpress printed without having any awareness for what the cost will be or the process that occurs to create the final product! To tell you the truth, I was one of those brides myself. When I was planning my wedding in early 2015, I knew I wanted letterpress invitations and I wasn’t anywhere near being prepared for the cost of getting them printed. I also wanted watercolor flowers on my invitation, which is a whole different problem because that has to be printed digitally first (and I of course had no idea that the printing methods were any different).

I was lucky enough to work with some very gracious people along the way that helped me figure out what I wanted…

How Deleting Facebook Has Helped me Grow my Business

How Deleting Facebook Has Helped me Grow my Business

In August 2017 I came to a crossroads where a lot of things needed to change within my personal life as well as my business life. It was an incredibly painful time of transition, but one that ended up for the best; I had to take time to evaluate what I could change and control and what I could not change and control, but rather had to learn to accept. Does any of this sound familiar? I feel like many other people go through something similar in their own life.

At this point in time social media was beginning to wear on me more and more. Not only did it take up my time, but it also drained me emotionally and mentally. I had already deleted certain apps off my phone, including Pinterest and SnapChat…

How I Use Dubsado as a Calligrapher & Designer

How I Use Dubsado as a Calligrapher & Designer

WOW! A lot has changed since I last wrote about Dubsado more than a YEAR ago; that’s just crazy for me to think about, especially because my little business has grown so much since then and Dubsado has been there every step of the way. Dubsado still remains an integral part of my calligraphy and design business, ElisaAnne Calligraphy, and I’m using the platform on an almost daily basis (depending on the time of year and how busy I am). Dubsado still remains my top choice out of all the other client management systems I’ve heard of that exist (HoneyBook, 17Hats, Tave… blah blah). Excuse my slight cynicism there, but I don’t really think the other platforms compare because I just love Dubsado that much!

Wedding Calligrapher & Invitation Designer: Home Studio Tour

Wedding Calligrapher & Invitation Designer: Home Studio Tour

Some of you probably already know most of my story, so I'll keep this intro relatively short! In September 2015 my husband and I moved to Marietta, Georgia so that he could attend a local grad school. We have a two bedroom apartment, which is such a blessing to have in the first few  years of marriage, especially when one of you (a.k.a. ME) has a business. From the beginning we knew that the second bedroom would turn into an office space first, and a guest room second (when we feel like getting out the air mattress).

From the time we moved in I've spent more hours collecting different pieces of furniture, moving things around, changing the setup, and working in this space than I can count…
